Dr Leigh Breen

Reader in Metabolic and Molecular Physiology, School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Birmingham

The overarching goal of Leigh’s research is to understand the regulation of skeletal muscle plasticity and develop targeted exercise and nutritional approaches to enhance skeletal muscle remodeling and physical performance in health and disease. Since his appointment in 2013, Leigh has been Principal or Co-Investigator on successful project grants from RCUK and charitable foundations to the tune of ~£2 million. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles. He is an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Nutrition and was recently awarded Fellow status with the European College of Sports Sciences.
