Professor Irini Margaritis progressed through 1st and 2nd grade in sport sciences, before gaining a PhD in 1995 on the topic of adaptive response to physical exercise and nutrition and publishing number of papers on this topic. From 1995 to 2002 she was Professor assistant at René Descartes University in Paris. She became full Professor in 2002, and until 2006 was Dean of the Sports Sciences Faculty at Nice-Sophia Antipolis University. Irini Margaritis is Head of Nutritional Risk Assessment Unit of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (Anses) since 2006. She chairs the CEN/TC 453.
